SE Region Championship Set for August

Recommended Posts

The 5th annual USGTF Southeast Region Championship will be held Saturday and Sunday, August 18 & 19, at Wildwood Country Club in Crawfordville, Florida, approximately 30 minutes south of Tallahassee. The championship will once again be held in conjunction with the Wildwood Open, a longtime staple of the Tallahassee tournament scene. USGTF members will be competing against non-USGTF members for overall tournament honors and prize money, although the low USGTF scorer will be named Southeast Region champion. All levels of USGTF members are invited to participate.

Southeast Region director Mike Stevens will conduct the annual meeting after play on the first day at one of the local restaurants. Mike will also hold a clinic on playing golf with hickory shafted clubs on the driving range after first round play is complete. USGTF members will get a chance to hit shots and learn about how the game was played in the early days of American golf.

The entry fee is $175 for the Professional and Senior Professional (50+) divisions, and $135 for the Amateur divisions flighted by handicap. To enter, please contact the USGTF National Office by August 13. The Inn at Wildwood has a special tournament rate of $59 plus tax per night. Reservations can be made by calling 800-878-1456. Let them know you are with the USGTF and playing in the Wildwood Open.

The Wakulla County area itself is part of Florida's Nature Coast, and activities such as boating, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing are abundant
